I'm thinking about adding a cichlid that gets 12"+ to my cichlid tank. There are currently Severums, Salvinis, blood parrots, and a jack dempsey.

I have a few ideas, but was wondering if there were any other good options:

Oscar
Frontosa
Managuense (i've hear mixed opinions on how peaceful these are. The few I've had a chance to see were around 9", and wouldn't even chase after feeder goldfish; though, their health was questionable.)

IME, large relatively peaceful (for large cichlids) ones are exCichlasoma pearsei and exCichlasoma bocourti.

all the managuense ive seen were aggressive so id stay away from them.. oscars would do fine in that group. how big is the tank
?

Manny's or Jag's are definitely not peaceful. If your looking for something really big and fairly peaceful I'd go with a Herichthys Pearsei. They get to be around 17 inches and are extremely well mannered for a cichlid. Probably even more so than an Oscar. Google them for some images or use the search on here. Big males look impressive and can develop a nice little nuchal bump. Big bruiser looks with a kitty cat personality.

Pearsei or bocourti would be good....don't add frontosas they are African cichlids and need different water

What kind of different water?

x4 on Bocourti or Pearsii

Higher PH but since he said his ph is high then I think it's fine for the frontosa
