a Semi large peaceful fish would be a livingstonii, i have two a male and female and they are pretty cool. the male is about 7 inches now and the female around 5 inches, i got them both as juveniles about 2 inches and they are wonderful fish they swim together and keep to themselves, as i understand it the males can get up to 10 inches not very large but large enough and they are real cool looking. my geophagus likes to chase them around, the male livinstonii put a whoopin on him one day because he bit him, but he still chases my stonii's around he can never catch them because they are much to fast for him, looks like they do it as a game na na na na na you cant catch me, lol

hypseclera temporalis aka the chocolate cichlid is supposed to be relatively peaceful for a cichlid.

two of my blood parrots are massive, and they've grown so much, their mouth opening isn't very big. They can't even lock lips with each other anymore. On rare occasion i see them try to bully my other fish, but the other fish just kind of ignore them, and laugh inside about how pathetic they are.

My severums range in size from 4" to 8", and they don't bother anyone or anything. the salvini are around 4", and only chase around each other. The Jack Dempsy is a 5" EBJD, and keeps to himself.
Interestingly enough I had a 6" Blood Parrot bully everything in my tank which at the time included a 10" Green Terror, 12" Synspila, 9" Hartwegi and a 12" Lyonsi. Some how his attitude scared them. As a matter of fact I've got a 4 inch BP that's bullying a 4" Lyonsi and a 5" Loisellei male and right now is the undisputed king of my 75 gallon grow out tank. The Loisellei tore him up something fierce, but the bugger just kept on coming at him all tore up. The BP never backed down. Now the Loisellei has claimed a cave and will display when the BP get's close and they'll have a bluff war, in open water though the Loisellei beats a hasty retreat from the BP. Also the BP has completely healed now that he's the Alpha and his fins are just about perfect again.

Anyone had any luck with snooks being peaceful? Haven't kept any myself, but I hear they're super mellow as long as it doesn't it in their mouths.

As already stated, chocolates are definitely mild. Most pearsei are pretty tame but some can be pretty boisterous. I don't find jags outright aggressive but they are very territorial. Tank space is needed for them.

What about a chocolate cichlid.

That is what my Bloodparrot tries to do,but fails miserable, the only thing the bp can even bully around at times,is my firemouth, black convict, and the salvini now since the Texas is dead. The Texas and Salvini were always together regardless and no other cichlid could touch the Salvini.

my chocolates are bullies, they only calmed down after they spawned(seems backwards)
