Seriously, what cichlid hybrids produce a super red shock? I'm sure the process is costly and a long term thing I was just wondering what fish strains make this fish.

I don't know either but most of the pics I see of them on here don't seem very super red. The seem more washed out pinkish-orange. So I would assume that they are just being called SRS because of their pedigree just like "Red" Texas that aren't really red?

Not known for sure but I believe synspilum and midas are a large part of the formula.

it is a Red monkey FH or faded SRS fh. All the names fall under one fish. That red model of a kamfa FH. I don't know how they r bred. It's a breeders secret.

The red genes in red vieja are present in many species. the red head and red body gene in syns appear to be different genes but come both origionally from wild stock vieja. Red genes are present in many species synsp, hartwegi, fenestratum etc. The red monkey is a hybrid vieja created by many years and many generations of breeders trying to bring out these red genes in the fish. Then the parrot was created when they tried to mix in amphilophus fading genes and the rest is history : )
