if there are plant problems, i would say pleco. But they look like they are dying by themselves. Are they getting enough light?

i just bought a new ballast this week so that i get 2 watts/gallon PC lighting; i was under the impression java fern and anubias need very little light

Pleco. Mine chew on my broadleaves too

well, how agressive are your plants, well if they are south american plants, i suggest you got to your LFS and purchase a tank seperater, give it time to heal, it always works.

what about the java fern? could that be nutrient deficiency??

Java Fern could grow in your toilet with the lid down. It looks like it's being molested by a fish, probably something that likes to chew.
