I clean out my canister filter frequently and when I do I scrub it with a scouring pad. Each time these grow back. I have no idea what it is, or where to start treating it. The tank has been up and running for about 6 months.

Can you get a pic closer up?

Turn your camera on the "Macro" setting..........Almost every camera has it.........look for a button that has a "flower" on it or a "flower" in the settings.

Also, when in "Macro"..........hold the camera as still as possible, or prop the camera up on something. Any movement of the camera will result in a blurry picture.
