What is he???

My LFS has a polypterus for sale 12.99. So, I bought him. Will pick him up tomorrow. But he is small...12" The owner of the store said he is as big as he is going to get. Here is my question....what kind of polypterus is he...somebody said poly palmy...what is that? and is he worth it. Will he be cool????? I kinda liked him, though I expected him to get bigger. Its OK if he doesn't, but I would of liked him to get bigger.

cant really tell you what bichir it is unless you give us some info on what he looks like, what color etc. probably a senegal, delhezi, palmas polli. it would also help with a pic.

yeah i think palmas polli max out around 12" if you want to go big go with lower jaws or an ornate.

yeah it could be palmas polli, but it could also be a senegalus, since senegalus is often mislabeled as 'palmas' at LFS, and both get to roughly same size in captivity.

without a pic or description, it'd be impossible to say which one. what color is it? what kind of patterns? number of dorsal finlets?

Max CB Senegal size is 12" BUT WC could be up to 17"
