i agree with Cohazard. it's a normal senegal.

when you first got it, it was normal. But then it became white because its been kept on white sand all this time. now that you switched it to black sand, it started to darken up again. how dark it'll get will depend on the individual though.

Leucistic (plat) and Albinism are genetic conditions the fish is born with and asfaik will always be present not come or go. Albinism in fish is either a partial (in hypomelanism, also known as hypomelanosis) or total (amelanism or amelanosis) lack of melanin pigment in the eyes and skin. Leucism is a condition characterized by reduced pigmentation in animals. Unlike albinism it is caused by a reduction in all types of skin pigment, not just melanin. That is why you can see patterns in certain albino fish like Oscars for example.

The above is not all my words but a bastardized composition of definitions found on various sites.

I disagree in that fish will change color over time based on their mood, environment and overall health. They will not develop true genetic morphs after birth.

i also disagree, a definition of xanthic states that the fish will lose all of the pigments it has except yellow as the fish ages.

i understand that he is just a normal senegal now that he is starting to darken up. i was wrong. i assumed since he was SO white that he may be something "special". He is my favorite fish, as stated before and nothing will change that. Just thought he might be a little unique.
