Welcome to MFK :D
Thanks

So is there little chance he is full Sajica? I am kind of a purist and even though I am curious about what some hybrids may look like Ive never intentionally purchased one. It will kinda bust my bubble as I was hoping he would be male and get a nuchal hump even though I hate them on larger fish. At the store he definitely had a red and redish yellow body and fins and one slight bar. He changed to a grey barred pattern once he started to get picked on.

some people on here are quick to board the hybrid train when they see a fish that they dont immediately recognize, i would let this fish color up and show its non-stressed colors before worrying about whether its a hybrid or not, cichlids can change their colors DRAMATICALLY when they are unhappy/stressed

unfortunately unless the store can verify the breeder it is possible that its a hybrid, convicts and those related are easy to breed.here is a female sajica i had a few months ago for referenceB 042.jpg

Ok mine looks like yours. I really think after all the pics i've looked at that its not a hybrid. Thanks for the pic.

I agree. Nothing about the original picture jumped out at me and indicated the fish might be hybrid.
