How they doing?

Still alive this morning at 6am when I checked. Hiding in a clay pot in the 55g, fingers are crossed.

hope you figure it out and/or pull through it man, those are some hot fish.

Thanks Andy, me too. Still alive last night when I got home and this morning when I left for work. The spot on the largest females face ruptured last night and the smaller female has a very deep pit from the skin splitting open when I caught her. Few more days and I'll know if they will make it or not. They will never look the same if they do make it, that is for sure... :(

only thing ive ever seen work for something like this is: hydrogen peroxide on a -tip and swab it...

Thanks for the feedback, have ever tried that yourself? Not heard of using it as a treatment for fish but makes sense.

What do you guys think, getting better or worse? I can barely tell though as often as I check.

Monday night (the wound ruptured when I caught her)

Tonight. The white "puss" or infection seems to be lessening and replaced with tissue.

This is why I say they will never look the same again. Another pic from tonight. Big opening in the face.

Still eating well, not breathing heavy at all. 82.6 degrees with melafix and 50% WC per day.

I've seen it work with my own eyes, on a wound similar to the one on your fish..
but it was actually a really deep "puss" filled hole..
My mate swabbed it well with peroxide, it almost looked like it burned the skin tissue at first, then it healed up pretty well for the size of the wound..

Todays losses... :wall: treating with maracyn II. I wish I knew what was killing off all my stock.

Down to only two a. heckelii left of my original group and loosing both (QT'ed right now) and lost my 7.5" male green severum. His female is probably going to be next. :(

good luck man, i feel for you. I almost feel like I'm watching a ship sink.

Thanks mgk, I kind of feel like that too. The 125g the above heckelii came from has some rare $$$ cichlids in there. I am really hoping it doesn't spread through that tank. For now it's happy just killing off my 220g stock. :(

Justin that sucks man! Just out of curiosity...how much water are you changing at a time? I recall you saying you do a couple small water changes a week? is that right? I wonder if lowering the temp on your tanks may help? down to say 74-75.. Just thinking out loud..I know you keep those babies bumped up pretty high...that may accelerate whatever bacteria is in your fish...I could be way off on my thoughts...just throwing some ideas out there...
