Powerfeeding is mostly a term used by reptile keepers, not created by MFKers, mostly in reference to growing large boas and pythons to enormous sizes quickly lol. Anyways, it's always bad news, causes health problems and grossly shortened lifespan.

I've heard similar about health problems but have never experianced any with fish. Never knew there was a reptile connection either. Learn something new.

I honestly belive that 'power feeding' is a term that was created by the members of MFK. The rest of the world just calls it what it really is....OVER FEEDING...LOL

I've seen it on sites before MFK.. really lots of water changes/turning the heat up as high as possible to increase metabolism go along with it as overfeeding is only one step of the process. But you're right for a pacu unless you're growing it out for your huge tank with other huge fish you don't really need to powerfeed.

The biggest you can afford although they rarely ever outgrow a 300...

The connection between the rep people and fishkeepers on MFK most likely carryed over. I never heard the term before joining MFK.
