Ok so This stuff pops up maybe once a month... I know for a fact I am doing proper amount of water changes and I have an fx5 hooked up so filtration is not the issue...

When I scrub the inside it comes right off, Im trying to keep my hands out of this tank as much as possible tho for clear reasons...

It waves with the water and is white... Maybe some type of algea ? Would a type of pleco help my situation ? Or a very strong magnet brush ?

180 gallon, fx5, 75 degrees, 2ft gator gar 2 ft clown 6 inch motoro ray.

If it looks like tiny feather dusters waving in the current of the tank then it's likely a species of Dinobryon, a unicellular, flagellated, colonial golden algae.

Sounds like a bb bloom imo. And a fx5 on a 180 isn't special, maybe 2fx5 on it would be something to gloat about...try buying bio media so your bacteria doesn't choose the walls to colonize on.... Scrap it do a wc add bio, and in a couple weeks it'll be gone....

Just so u don't think I'm a **** I run fx5+ac110 on a 90gal lol. Speaking from xp, try adding a ac110 or 2, stock it with 3-4 layers of filter sheet and it will take care of small mechanical filtration (polishing), then u can run fx5 for bio and the sponges will take care of LG debris, all 3baskets on mine are loaded with api chem stars and bio max.
