A reptile expo is coming to my town May 10, I need to know some good exotic NON-SNAKE animals are for my 40g i will set up. Please list care requirements and pictures would be cool.

I will make it very realistic to its habitat.
I can do semi-aquatic.
Thank You,
Chad

Red eyed crocodile skinks are awesome and would fit in a 40-Breeder semi aquatic set up.

I was looking into red cheeked mud turtles.
I like turtles with the pyramid effect.
Is that a deformity, or is it just natural to individual turtles.
I like salamanders,
and lizards i can handle.
I like most everything from SA.
I would like a tank with multiple species from the same area, (I was thinking South America.) and plants, and some water with smaller fish, ( I would like a pair of Sajica Chiclids.)

Pyramids are a sign of being unhealthy. Those are animals that are usually not receiving proper lighting or food.

Yes, pyramidding in turtles = not good. Generally this means that the turtle is either being overfed or doesn't have proper lighting or both. Often causes problems with their internal organs, ultimately leading to premature death.

There are a bunch of variations of map turtles that are pretty damn cool, and their shells do have a kind of jagged appearance. Texas maps are pretty sweet, they have a lot of orange in them. You might also dig a black knobbed map. Google for some pics, there are many species of map to choose from. Also, maps generally stay smaller than most other species of turtles and a 40 gal would be just fine for a couple of them.

Care for most turtles is pretty basic: give them water (with adequate filration/heat), a basking spot with a regular incandescent bulb AND a UVB bulb (imperative!). Pick a good pellet/stick food as a staple (my turtles eat the same pellets I give my fish, which is nice) and give them some different things to eat every now and again to keep their diet somewhat varied.

about a mata mata turtle? it would be okay in a 40 for a little while if you got a smaller one and they have very cool knobed backs. I would avoid buying an animal with an obvious sign that it is unhealthy (ie. pyramiding).
