I have 3 musks in a 70 gallon, and that is all the tank they need lol. I would recommend one musk, at most two for a 40 gallon depending on the footprint. Bigger footprint=happier/more turtles. But for 2 turtles you would need a big filter in a smaller tank, but they can be happy. As far as basking goes, a large piece of driftwood for them is good, they don't get out of the water at all. They don;t like to as a species. I have it set up with heat lamps and sand and everything but they don't touch it, just lay in the driftwood. But you still need UV. Good small species, with that rigid DOMED back. Very nice patterns on the head and belly. Happy adopting!

you said u want a tank with diffrent species how about you do anoles and lil tree frogs that would work you could get a lil waterfall in there with a nice cork or rock background and lots of live plants and a lil water section kinda like a river or lake of some sort
