Up until a few minutes ago thought "Spike" was a Poly Delhezi, thanks to "Loves Severums" I now seem to be the owner of a Poly Endlicheri.
in the few minutes I been looking up the Endlicheri I noticed there seems to be two types, which do you think "Spike" is.
also would like to know opinons on what sex it is.
Which of the two are the most expensive usually? I paid $17.00 about 6 months ago when he/she was 2.5"

Sorry about the not so great pics,

:ROFL:Delhezi.... It's okay though Delhezi and Endli are commonly mistaken by LFS. It's just a normal CB Endli.
Also get Spike off of goldfish ASAP(Massivore is loads better) be sure to have a 150 or(60"x24"X24") for him/her that's the minimum tank IMO/IME on Endlis

EDIT: Saw your other thread yes it is a female sorry about the EBJD

thanks for the info
had only purchased as she was cute, and lfs (usually very good) assured me she'd only get 6 ", She has been eating guppies then goldfish since I've had her not to mention all the cichlids, until I figured out just how big her mouth could open. I feed the other fish in the tank with her sera vegie and omnivore granuals, frozen brine shrimp with sprillina, cichlid delight, mysis shrimp, blood worms. Carnivore pellets, live fish and earthworms.
She eats nothing except the fish.

she was in a 55 corner tank and we only saw her if she was hunting. Jag cichlid started to beat on her so I moved her to a 44 hex (it's a really old tank very wide and short for a hex) she is out all the time inspecting everything and always on the move.

Yes, I know that she is going to need a new tank ASAP still stuck on my cute little Spike is going to be whale sized.

will try the massivore, ideas on how to get her to eat them?

Thanks Lynn

Yours is an endlicheri endlicheri. Endlicheri congicus is the more expensive/rare one. Sex the endlicheri by looking at the anal fin. Also just starve it, massivore is easily taken by carnivores.

$17 is a very good price for an endlicheri.

Nope my Endli went on a hunger strike for a couple of weeks when she was little (~6") and she finally took pellets and frozen silversides which you could try. Polypterus usually go weeks if not months without food.

I'd try not feeding her for 4 days and then offering pellets or frozen silversides

no worries on the starving part, they can go god knows how long without food.. gorgeous little one!

thanks for the input.
I'll try the massivore, should I move the other fish in the tank, they are bigger than her mouth for sure, but not sure she wont try and eat them if she's hungry.

I have a 17" endli with 6" geos and the endli never bothers the geos. If the fish isn't close to fitting in her mouth, I wouldn't worry.

Another good food for big bichirs is market shrimp/prawn. Just remember to remove the tail "spike" if you plan to feed with shell on.
