What is that makes people interested in peacock bass?

Orinos are one of the smaller cichla, right? How big of fish would one be safe with? Would the likes of Jack Dempseys, Oscars, Viejas, Green Terror, Carpintus and various Sunfish be safe with one?

To all the non cichla lovers.....keep it pushin' :D

Orinos and Kelberi are on the smaller side, yeah. I've kept my bass with grown oscar, jags, severums, and a JD, green terror, and a Mayan before. Make sure the other fish are at least 2/3 the size of the bass. Just make sure everyone has lots of room and you keep up with those water changes and filtration. My pbass are currently 12" long and barely pay attention to my severums and jags. The jags are 9" and 11", and the severums are smaller -- but they are also TALLER, which makes them completely unappealing to a well-fed bass. :)

cichlidfish, they're put to control anything they can fit in their colossal mouths. Plus, I've been living in Florida all seventeen years in my life. Never once seen a single snakehead for all my fishing. Right now, Florida's biggest concern is the Lionfish. They've banned importation of them for aquariums in Florida now. And Florida's incredibly generous with their exotic pets laws!

Lion fish are a concern, but they are salt water.
Are you in the Miami area? That is where this documentary took place. They couldn't find any native or non-native other than snakeheads. In fact they showed YouTubeers throwing pbass in a tank of snakeheads. You could hear these idiots laughing as the pbass got torn apart.
I like pbass for their colors and behavior. I just don't have the tank space.
