What do you think the average medium-large 8"-16" cichlid biteforce is? I'm talking average hobby cichlids like jags, flowerhorn, Oscars, Texas, etc. Do you think any of the 16" class large cichlids could break 100 pounds per square inch? I feel like these cichlids are more powerful than people could imagine. Any links please share. Add any possible stronger bite force same size class cichlids or fish.

I'm sure a 16" pbass has enough bite force to dislocate or even brake your finger if it tried

^ Not quite Ive been bitten by several 14"+ pbass when i used to keep them. No pain at all from bite.
If they slam you hard enough maybe but not from biting. Far as big cichlids I doubt any get over 100 lbs per sq. I know rbp have 75 lbs per sq. I would like to know the bite force on a dovii or buttikoferi though they do have pretty strong jaws.

That's what I meant striking not biting

A bluefish (saltwater) has tremendous bite force. They don't call them choppers or gator blues for nothing. An oyster cracker is another saltwater fish with tremendous bite force.

Saltwater fish are in a whole other league. Ive caught oyster crackers, pretty much toadfish, and blues, i wont put my hands near there mouth. For cichlids my vote goes to a big male dovii.

Not sure about actual bite force but I would guess the Dovii is up near the top of the list.I have seen near two footers in store display tanks snapping at me.I used to have a pair of albino oscars and they had pretty good strength as well. They would come up,snap at my finger and actually pull at it a little.

The Oscars sting for a second and I've had large ones draw blood but nothing too high. My uncles old 14"-16" tiger made my finger tear open when I was younger. My money would also be on a large male dovii. I've seen one feeding and those things can tear you apart! What about a very large male jag at similar size. Or maybe a large jag/dovii mix.

id put a hornet ( buttikoferi ) over the dovii, have you seen when this guys fight? they can lift your jaw much higher then any other cichlid I have seen, My theory is the bigger the lift the more force then can get. I have been snapped but some bigger cichlids and its not very painful, My friend has been snapped at by a 2.5ft mangrove jack and he said it felt like getting his hand smashed with a steel hammer that had nails stuck in it :|

As for salt water fish, whole different story, look at baby triggers 2-4 inch if they bite you they will draw blood. every seen a 30-45cm triggers teeth? those things make piranha teeth look like tooth picks, even big clown fish draw blood and neom is suppose to be nice =(
