I got mine to eat silver sides and krill. Is there anything else I should be feeding him or will he grow healthy and strong on this diet? I don't feed live fish btw due to health issues that arise.

Sounds good to me. Mine love bloodworms frozen or freeze dried and seem to have taken a liking to sinking carnivore pellets lately.

Thanks man. If he was the only fish in the tank or just with other bichirs I would go for the carnivore pellets but the other fish cant be eating that stuff. I have to target feed him every time with a little grabber unit I got from petco. Maybe ill try some sinking carnivore it has some vitamins in it.

Is there any other foods out there that are frozen that my sen would enjoy ? Shrimp /mussels ?? What kind of mussels do I get?

I use HBH SuperSoft Krill, NLS Large Fish Formula, Hikari Sinking Wafers and frozen bloodworms. I don't have to target feed though, his tankmates are a spiny eel, an African Knife, and a pleco. He occasionally swipes the pleco's algae wafers. Leaves the fresh veggies alone, but swipes a wafer now and again.

I got mine in with some bigger more predatory Africans as of now (Livinstoni ) They leave him alone but god forbid if I tried to feed him pellets my other fish would die of bloat before he got food. Ill see if he eats pellets in a target feed.

My Senegels go absolutely crazy over frozen beef heart. They get 1 cube of blood worms in the morning and 1 cube of beef heart at night. And live with a colony of feeder guppies previousely QT'd and pick off any of the weak. I also see them pick at the flakes i feed the guppies on occasion. And occasionally i toss some shrimp pellets in, which they don't seem to care for much. they're 5" now and I plan to mix in some carnivore pellets as they get older.

tilapia is part of their natural diet and is commonly available
