ARRRRRRG megabump again.
seriously come on people check the dates before you post...... anyway this is an intresting topic so ill bite.
I feed my piranhas a mixture of shrimp, tilapia, scallops, and carrots i used a food processor to chop it all up into a mushy consistency and added gelatin to bind it together i then put it in a large tray and allowed it to set i then cut it into squares and froze them now when i feed my piranhas i simply thaw a square of my diy fish food and toss it in. They really enjoy it. And gelatin is pure protein so i know it's 100% digestable( to primarily carnivorous fish like piranhas anyway. I also feed them hikari massivore pellets and smelts.
Next time i make a batch of it ill add different types of seafood and vegetables.
why well because thats how they act. they get shrimp/ squid/ worms/ shiners from bait shop/ every type of white fish there is at the supermarket/ pellets/ they eat better than i do. the wife does the feeding/ i do the cleaning. 2 emp 400 and fx5 for filters and still change 50% water change every 4 days.
Great information. I have taken all the advise and used it. I have been feeding my piranha frozen shrimp, frozen krill, frozen silver sides, and for a treat every once in a while salmon. My piranha love salmon! Thanks again and I stopped the live feeders.
