Ok I just check my thermometer which I indicates temp at 84. No wonder it wasn't working at 80 but works at 88. Another question guys, in long beach, CA it's faking hot like 90-100F. Any way I cancool my tank temp? My heater is not heating the water, it's the weather.
As much as I love this heater I wish the leads were a little longer. They could add another foot or two to the cords between the temp sensor, heating element & adjustment dial and it wouldn't cost them too much but would make a world of difference to most users. My tank is only a 80gal bowfront on a slightly tall stand and they still aren't long enough . As it is my temp dial is kind of hanging behind the aquarium which is less than ideal but I haven't had to adjust it in the year or so that I've had it so whatever. I mount the heating element higher on the glass than I would like it as well because of this but other than that one small complaint I really do like these heaters.
I've heard lots of positive things about the Hydor in-line heaters and may just order up a 300 watt one to try with my Fluval canister filter and do away with some cords/clutter in my tank from the Titanium.
