What is the best looking South American cichlid out there?

I want to order in some new fish, but I want to get the best looking ones.

It depends on what size tank you can provide. If there is no limit on tank size my vote is for an umbee
There are so many attractive cichlids though so start with what size tank you can provide and that will help narrow the suggestions down.

Umbee's are really great but not everyone can live up to their requirments. the best cichlid to me is the Jack dempsey if it is healthy and take care of well. The color on them is amazing. It's all opion. Jack dempsey are mine.

that is a remarkable umbee. The colors are probally the best i've seen on mfk.

big tank (125 or bigger)... my vote is red terror... 75 -120... black belt.. smaller than 75 ( or if you like your fish to have lots of room) dempsey

I like Altifrons, nothing like one with long streamers.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What other people think are the best , others might think different. Dovii and umbee are cool but ill take a festae (red terror) over both.

Like stated the tank size is most important.

dempseys are central american, not south.
