What is THE BEST pellets for my SA / CA Cichlids?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've used NLS, Omega One, and Aquamax pellets with my cichlids, and I'd go with the first two when it comes to quality and the other when it comes to price. If I had to recommend one as the best, definitely NLS though

I have quite a mix of fish in my tank.

1 red devil. 9"
1 True Blood Parrot (5 years old)
6 parrot hybrids (Off Spring from Red Devil and Parrot 3 yrs old)
2 african rainbows
2 4" JDs
1 3.5" Green Terror
2 3" Jags
1 4.5" Female Dovii
1 6.5" Oscar
1 Pleco

All in my 180 with about 300 lbs of lava rock.

Relatively calm tank due to all the hiding places.

Just want to make sure I am taking care of their nutritional needs.

yeah koy pellets

Koi pellets don't really have a suitable protein content for carnivorous fish. Pond pellets run 30-33% protein while most cichlid pellets are 40-45% protein.

If i could afford Spectrum i would use that more often...

but right now im using AquaDine and it seems to make my fish grow EXTREMELY fast and i love it..not too expensive either...

Most of those fish will do very well on massivore. I'd get some algae waefers and New Life Spectrum Large Fish sinking pellet formula, as well as some sort of flake food for the rainbows.

The problem with flake in a large tank like that is that it can make a real mess of things.
