Actually around here (KY) most people call them pumpkinseeds, but people in other areas call them long-eared sunfish.

it might not be a pumkinseed..
I recall that pumpkin seeds should have a bit of red on the operculum flap, and that fish has solid black..
Probably the long eared is a different but very similar species of sunfish to the true pumpkinseed.

you have way to much time to argue that... anyways my best pic is a great shot of rocks with blurry fish... now my lady takes all the good ones...
One of these two would be the best picture I've taken, camera is real crap and old (2megapixal). I am going to get a Nikon D40x (or D80x if I have the extra money) around my birthday.
