I want to get a small aquarium to have a mini community aquarium for like guppies and a goramie

Your probably better off buying a 10 gallon and then getting the filtration and stuff on amazon if your looking for a cheap option

I guess it would depend on what size and what you consider a good deal. I personally think the best deals come to those who wait and scour craigslist. That being said I got a 36 bow tank, hood light and stand from Petsmart last year for around $180. Adding filter, substrate, light upgrade and rocks added an additional $250. I was happy with that price for a new setup.

Petco has a "basic 10 gallon aqueon kit" for 52$. Tank, top, filter. It's cheaper than buying them separate. You could probably also just buy a 10 gallon tank and glass lid at Petco or Walmart, and get cheap Chinese components from brands like sunsun or aquatop on ebay/amazon. Price should be pretty similar.
Also, craigslist can be great for finding cheap stuff

$52 bucks sounds steep for a 10 gallon kit. You could get something really cheap on Craigslist or get stuff on sale/online. Amazon has really cheap filters and heaters.

The kit probably has heater, media, filter, top glass, and a light in addition to the tank brand new no scratches or wear which is probably gonna run you more than 52 off of amazon.

52 just gets you the tank, plastic top/tube light combo, filter w/ media, food, dechlorinator. For 72 you can get one with a heater and LED lighting. But either way, priced separately on amazon it'll cost you more.
Of course you can find steals on craigslist, but you can't compare used prices to brand new. New is always gonna cost way more, but you know what you're getting. I've had a craigslist tank start leaking on me before and ruin part of the wood flooring in my house. I still use craigslist and would recommend it, but you gotta know what you're getting into.

Oh so 72 for a whole outfit? Well you could get a 10 gallon at petco for 13. Get a heater for around 10. Filter for 11. Light for 12 bucks. Glass lid if you want it for 20. Same price if you get the glass lid but some of the items, like the filter, would be better than the crap that usually comes with those kits. You could probably go cheaper, I just found stuff that was reasonably cheaper with good reviews, also only looked at each item for all of 5 seconds. Look around and you could get everything for 50 maybe less. Just gotta play the on sale wait game.

Petsmart and walmart have kits for $30. Avoid the ones that come with heaters, not only do they usually not work, but the topfin ones have a knob to adjust the temperature without listing the temperatures youre setting them to. Total waste of money.
