What is the coolest fish you have seen sold at Petsmart,Petco, etc?

That's actually not a niger. It's a decrepit old raphael catfish, platydoras armulatus. His stripes have gone gray so they are hard to see. And he was thin when I found him, so he looks a bit off. Now he's fat, happy, and the first out of the cave (out of seven catfish!) when lights go off! :D And the fools had him in the Koi/plant display tank at about 72º I think. A bit cool for a tropical cat, don't you think? They let me have him for free when I said "125 gallon tank".

WOW! Nice..

I thought it was kind of cool that the feeder goldfish looked to be in pretty good condition. They were all brightly colored and moving about, clear water and not a cloudy eye or dead one in sight.I was almost tempted to purchase a few but not at almost twenty cents each.....I once saw a Flagtail Prochilidus in there before.

Knifegill... wow, what a Rafael!! I've taken a shine to them recently too. What a bad@$$ fish. Great of you to take him in.
Oh, I was ecstatic. I love elderly fish, and I really love raphaels, so it was a super score for me. He's actually seemed to grow a little, too. Weird, but I guess if he lived the better part of his life in a small tank, perhaps he is just making up for lost time now.

I think seeing saltwater animals at Petsmart is really weird. It's such a temptation to be resisted. I know so little about SW yet here are these affordable, trashy specimens I could give it a whirl with to get my feet wet. It's kind of evil, really.

went last night, they had Pearl cichlids. Not rare but first time I've seen them there, but they no longer had jags.

Side Note: I'm actually starting to be impressed with my local Petsmart and they way they are switching their stock each week.
