No real difference, they're a waste of money. Meds dont do anything until the ich falls off the fish and hatches later from the cycst. The ONLY way to get rid of ich is to speed the life cycle.

Slowly turn the heat up to 84-86 degrees and lower the water level to increase aeration. You should also do LIGHT gravel vacs every other day to pick up any cycsts in the substrate. You will start to see it rapidly going away in 2-3 days. Once its completely gone leave the heat up for another week or two just incase.
*** Forgot to mention that during this you should also add Melafix or Aquarium Salt to help your fish heal faster and prevent any secondary infections.***

Correct, add salt 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons. Best to treat for three weeks.

he has had ich since the 10th. ive raised the temp to 87 and added salt already and its still heavily infected. im surprised its alive

Just because its white does not mean it is ick. If the salt and high temp have not cured it in 10 days, I would bet that it is Columnarius and this noramlly looks like the fishes skin is peeling and whitish. And ick on the other hand just looks like the fish is covered in grains of salt. A picture would help alot here as well. But if it is columnarius then a good treatment would be a antifungal medication coupled with a antibiotic. I would suggest jungle labs brand fungus clear tablets. they have everything needed to fight columnarius and also a antibiotic to fight off any secondary infection all in one easy to use tablet.

I would also keep up the salt treatment. salt has alot of benefits other than killing ick. Salt helps to replenish the slime coat and also eases stress caused by the illness .

yes rid ick works fantastically for um ick. But this guy has allready been treating the fish for 10+ days with a known good treatment for ick and the fish has gotten worse. There are alot of other diseases out there that are commonly called ick and ick meds do nothing for these other diseases.

yeah i see what ya mean hybrid

i was answering his question, (kinda :))

my pbass had the same thing that he explains (looks very close to ich) all i did was add salt, bump the temp up, did a 50% WC, and cleaned the canister filter, the whitespots disappeared in a few days
