What was the fish specie you ever bred or bred on their own in your tank? Just curious.

My first were guppies. I was about 9 years old then, and on vacation in China at the time for the summer break. My dad bought me a pair of guppies that looked exactly indentical to each other to keep for the time being, and we were going to give them to a friend who had a fish tank when we leave.

I kept the two in a really small, round plastic tub(about 3 or 4 inches in height and maybe a foot across)with no heater or even a filter for a matter of fact(I wasn't really that smart, then). It was bare on the bottom with no decorations, except for a few plastic plants. When I "changed" the water, I just dumped in a few cups of tap water straight from the faucet.

But they still bred! We had them for maybe two months. One jumped to his death and maybe two days later, there were were a huge school of tiny almost transparent guppy fries swimming near the surviving one. We eventually had to return to the States and gave them all to my friend. There were over thirty babies.

i bred siamese fighting fish and some betas.,:headbang2

Two years ago, when I got back into the hobby seriously, I had a beautiful group of Taiwan Reef Malawi Peacocks. Called the male "Horndog" as he was a prolific tailchaser. I still have some of his offspring; his son, Sammy, is just as driven LOL. Got two tiny fry in a tank with a JD and Polleni.
