I've had a lot of delicate fish that have died on me, and I've probably shelled out thousands for fish that have died on me. But I've always been one to enjoy a challenge.
For me the greatest part of this hobby is getting rare fish and finding ways to acclimate them to aquarium conditions or better yet breed them. I've never given up on a fish - so while tons have died. I've always just managed to persevere with more of them and figure it out.
Ditto. The only great disaster Ive had so far was my SA Blackwater tank , I was absolutly obsessed by this tank, I had Apistogramma Macmasteri breeding, shoals of rummynose and Cardinals. Silvertips,Breeding Bristlenose, Black Phantoms, And a ram. Added 6 Neons one day and within 24 hours all the fish were dead. The cause> The super rare Neon Tetra disease....
Oh and one other disastor, I got a 11" Green Arowana, with CITES Papers, cost 300 Euro. woke up the next day to find it dead. Needless to say I got my money back, as a water test revealed all parameters to be perfect.
Fish died by bashing its head off the hood.
Used to have trouble with Clown Loach, Severums, And red tailed black sharks, untill I figured it out, now I breed em! Like dirtyblacksocks above, I enjoy a challange.
If someone is repeatedly having trouble with a certain fish then check your sources. I know a lfs that was selling guppies bred in saltwater for a year, so many people complained about their fish dieing that the shop went and asked the supplier who bred the guppies. turns out they were bred by Sunny in singapore, and in saltwater, only lasted 3 weeks in freshwater.
