what is the hardest cichlid to keep in your experience?

Definitley Rams and really small Discus.

Oh and Geo red Heads, gave up on them ages ago, but the tank was always community.

def FLOWERHORNS!!!!! They always have some new infection and they do not react to medicines well!!! Plus they just have a short life span all together!! I guess its just the mixed up genes!!!

Rams, rams, rams
I have kept Oscars, JD, Firemouth, various common Africans (yellow labs, etc), and Discus. Rams seem to hide out, I have to struggle to find them, then bones are the next thing I see (usually under the pleco's mouth).

I would love to have them again, but just can't. I even had a double red apisto which was not too cheap, and he lasted a week.
I am not sure if they just have a hard time acclimating or not - seems to be a "not eating" thing as I never saw them actively go for food, doesn't mean they didn't get leftovers though. Hmm

I just can't seem to keep convicts alive in my main tank... Sometimes they're dead the second they leave the bag?? i'm not sure why??

oh wait...

That's why.

Touch wood, I've never had so much as a serious health issue in ten years with any of my Cichlids. Predation is... different. ;)

The most hiarious part of that is that I had only scrolled down to the bottom of the right hand cichlid in that picture when I read your post. I was thinking WTF is wrong with his water.
Then I scrolled down and almost peed because immediately it made sense.
Ya Effed up my thought process for at least a week.
