Why would you piss off your fish with a bare bottom tank.
How would it piss them off ??

what does this mean, quite a few people run bare bottom's chief. bottom only looks like a mirror from the side, try looking straight down into it...

back on subject. sounds like you need more bio. all my tanks are bare bottom and are perfectly clear but i overdo the in-filter bio media.

Yes bio media is really necessary. A barebottom tank is no place for this bio revolution that seems to have been argued by a few members here.

LOL at their bare bottom set up :screwy: Oh wait...I am being an A-hole? :grinno:

Dude take a :chillpill:. The tank just does not have gravel but does have some protective colored paper underneath

how often do you change your water? and how much bio media do you have?
I change my water every week to every 2 weeks. I have a 5 ply jebo filter that has 2 trays of ceramic rings, 2 with activated carbon, and one with a sponge. Each tray has mesh on top of it.

Key for me is adequate turnover. My 90 gallon is barebottom and never has a spec of debris on it. The bichirs help stir up whatever may end up on the bottom but nothing ever does.

Its a 48X18 footprint but its got a fluval 405 an AC110 and an eheim 2215 as well as the 18 watt turbo twist attached to an aquaclear 50 powerhead which also stirs up the bottom. I dont ever vacuum anything off the bottom let alone find anything to vaccum im happy :)

As far as your water being cloudy... What are the parameters how old is it ? What are you feeding ?
Well pretty much I ma just feeding the tank as much as it can finish in 2 minutes such as hikari sinking bio gold, carnivore pellets, and freeze dried shrimp

coreyweinkoetz;3798511; said:
what color cloudy white like fog or brown tea or green pea soup?
The water does not really have a color to it. It is just like a fog in the water.

I have done several water changes to correct this, but it would eventually come back..

Do more water changes once every two weeks is not sufficient and you didn't say the % of water you change.

Sounds to me like a bacterial bloom. Should sort itself out.
