My wife and I are considering doin a cichlid tank with our 125g we just got. We are still researching fish and have not decided what we will have in it. We are interested in cichlids but have a lot to do before we can do anything as far as adding fish so we have a few months before we make a final decision. We are thinking we want a lot of color and larger fish than our tropical community tank. So what are the most colorful cichlids and how big do they get? Also could I keep a large peco with them? Thanks.

The most colorful cichlids are Africans. African Mbuna stay pretty small, most not getting over 5 or 6 inches. African Haps and Peacocks get bigger. You should look into doing an all male Peacock tank. And, yes, you can put a pleco in with them.

Mbunas provide the most color, and in a tank that size you have plenty of options.

I agree with the above posters, get yourself some African mbuna cichlids. They have stunning bright colors, and are always busy.
