what is the proper way 2 clean canisters or filters in general without killing the ben bac:nilly: ?

Just treat the bacteria as though it were alive (it is). Would you put a fish in chlorinated water or into extreme temps or leave without oxygen for hours?

I use some of the same tank water in a bucket to clean. You dont need to baby the bacteria, just be sensible.

so just put some tank water in a bucket then swish the filters in that and squeeze them dry and wa-la there clean? not being snotty just want 2 know how 2 do it the proper way so that my tank is at its best

Don't wring them out dry, just squeeze the water out gently and wa-la :D.

some1 told me prior to this 2 just put them under the sink and rinse them off and that was the 2 do it but because i have brothers and sisters on MFK's i can ask that same question and get answers that sound about right lol thanks guys and girls

I rinse the foam and filter floss, in sink water, because it doesn't house much BB. The ehfi mech, and ehfisubstrat pro, gets rinsed in tank water.

can you show me a pic so as i can know what you are talking about? i own a mag 350,casscade 1500,and a tetra 150 so how would i clean them? :(

Pictures are not needed. I run eheims, and the ehfi's are types of media for eheims. Just don't wash the bio media in sink water, just use tank water for bio-media.
