What is the smallest gar?

These are not gars, but characins with a misleading common name.

Needlenose "gars" aren't true gars; they're characins.

Now if you're talking about longnose gars that have been labeled "needlenose gars" as they are sometimes called, then you're in business for dealing with true gars.

Actually "Needlenose gars", if not being used as a name for Longnosed, are Belonids. They are in there with Flying fish and Halfbeaks. Not a Characin at all...
