It is important to note that when we sell or give information about our fish, to be completely accurate. When you or I state the total lenght of the fish, it is important to be aware of how big of a difference there is between 1 inch vs. 4 inches. It was so funny that when I purchase a fish described 3-4 inches, I was hoping to see exactly 3 to 4 inches. They were more like "slightly an inch".

I saw an ad showing an 8 inch datniode, after driving for about an hour to to check out the fish, it was more like 5 inches, not 6, 5 inches. When you are aware of how much 1 inch really is, it is very much likely you can eyeball the size of the fish. Just look at the size of the 1 inch on a ruler, or tape measure, you will get a better idea of how much difference there is between 4 inches and 1 inch.

I purchased that fish anyway, and is now about 8 inches in my tank.

There ar actually 2 ways to measure a fish total length (TL) is from the tip of the nose to the end of tail fins

standard length (SL) is from the tip of the nose to the end of the body not counting tail finnage-Anne

Must've been a very long reading post. It is so easy to just jump into conclusions when you do a "speedreading" on a post. I know, been there.

The point I am making is that if you say you have a 4" fish for sale, please say it is 4" and not 8" or 6".

Many of "us" eyeball the size of our fish without really knowing how big is a one inch!

I was fishing last few yearas ago, and the legal size to keep a halibut is 22inches. So the deckhand eyeballs the size of the fish and decides it was under 22" so therefore, he throws it back into the ocean. But then, the angler knew all along that is was 22 inches or larger. It was about 6 lbs. "mkayy" Whatever, the fish is in the ocean and the angler was mad as hell because the deckhand just threw back his "legal" size fish.

This post has nothing to do with genitals... :screwy:
