What is the trick again?

Hey I was wondering if someone could tell me the trick again for getting Cichla off live food. I did it once before and I kind of remember it, I have been dropping the feeders in one at a time and dont leave any free swimming. I have also been using the same measuring cup I use for shrimp and now he recognizes it as food/feeding time and today he even hit a piece of shrimp but that was about it.

I got my Temz of live but that was almost a year ago now and I forget the best way.

he is only about 4" but I rather him be eating shrimp, krill and pellets then feeders which could lead to illness...
