what is the truth about adding tap to tank

You must be wealthy, I tried this once, aside from the 1:1 waist ratio the buffering agents we very costly. I guess I could have used like baking soda and such but what about the trace elements.
 
I use tap water with conditioner
 
What the heck is R/O?

I didn't realize that people used anything besides tap water.. I use conditioner in mine.. but never do a WC without it..

It's water that has passed through an RO system(reverse osmosis).The system removes most substances from the water and makes it very soft.

No problemo...I used to think that RO water was absolutely needed in order to keep Discus but I've seen comments here from Discus keepers stating the opposite.
 
Ive only used tapwater with conditioner on my freshwater tanks. On my salts,however, I only use RO/DI.Tap+SW Tanks=FAIL
