it is a regular green texas with stress bars let it get settled in and they will go away

Dude that's a JD x Blue Texas cross. I doubt that if it had any convict genes would turn out to have that many speckles. Those black bars on the side could mean it's a female as dempsey females get them when they're ready to breed. And your fish seems mature enough. Although blue texans also have them so...

Turn your aquarium lights off for a long period of time then turn them on all of the sudden. you'll see the black bars come out, then they start to fade as the fish gets comfortable..

no,i think it has no carpintis strain i.e. it is Herichthys cyanogattus as the face has no wormy marking

The bars have been there lights off and on they have never once faded i woke up last night to checkem he still had bars right now he has bars i doubt they will fade.
