Anyone else thing it looks like a solid white parathraps fenestratus (pink)? Something about it doesnt say african to me...
*on second thought, the eyes are too small. I think better pics are needed, unless you guys are sure its african.

Its common name is "snow white scolofi" I spell poorly, Sorry. Its real name is "pseudotrophious socolofi" And it's just an albino version of the powder blue normal looking socolofi. Yes it is an african, but hails from lake malawi. It is a very tempermental "Mbuna" cichlid. Mbuna just means rock bound. It will stake out a teritory and protect it and wait for feales to come in when rip. they are mouth brooders, so no chance of hybrids with your CA/SA's As far as getting along well with your other fish, short answer, no. theythrive in highly populated rocky areas of the lake with very hard water and a PH of 8.2 or so. they will however live in your tank, just not happily. Hope this helps you out.

Lake Malawi is in Africa. Store bred africans (petsmart/petco etc) get along fine with CA/SAs and the water that 99% of them are bred in isnt the ph you say. Its the same ph as all the CA/SAs are bred in which usually hovers around 7.

how many have you spoken with that stated they were unhappy? did you interview any buttikofferis and get their views on it as well? Its rare that I dont see them mixed in show tanks at LFSs that have them and I know several people, one on this forum, with a frontosa in a CA tank and it thrives.

Most LFS bought fish are so far removed from their natural instinct/habitats that they will be happy just to be in a clean tank...or so they tell me when I talk with them.;)
