Sorry Frank, can't tell from the pics. If it is anchor worms, remove the adults with tweezers, and treat the tank with Dimilin. I haven't used it in years, but Parasite Guard used to contain Dimilin. (Dflubenzuron)

Thx Neil

Just checked its still listed as an ingredient. Gonna try and get better pics and vid later on

Tetra recommends the following treatment for anchor worms.
Treat 3 times every 48 hrs with wc's between each treatment. Wait 7 days then do another treatment, wait another 7 days and do the last treatment.

Im reluctant to try and pull it off as i dont know what it is. Another member DMD123 DMD123 suggested it could be some of the external gills that may be left behind.

Sorry, I have zero experience with bichirs.

So here is a pic of my weeksii at 7" and it had large external gills still.

I cant tell by your pic but it should look more like it is part of the fish and not something 'stuck on' it.
Total guess on the gill remnant, because it is in a wierd place. You might look for endli pics with gills to see if the location looks about right.
In the meantime I would carefully monitor and possibly run more than one treatment if you might think parasite.

Yeah doesnt look like external gill remnants.

I forgot how much salt to add havent dont that in a while. 1 tbls spoon per 10 gal sound right ?

maybe these pics/vid can shed some light. Appreciate any input
