What Is This?, Convict,T-Bar,Jade Eye or a Convict x hybrid?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Which last pic? can you be more specific?

Could be a sajica, could be a hybrid convict/sajica. These two fish are really closely related. Its to close to say for sure imo. If it is a sajica it needs to be in a seperate tank as it will not hold up against the texas or green terrors. If it is a sajica con hybrid then there is no way to know how the fish will hold up against the others. That's a toughy.

Yeh i know that...just when i bought it i assumed it was a convict...being in a tank with convicts in a tank labelled 'Convicts' and being sold to me as a 'convict'.

I dunno what to do with him yet, my LFS never takes anything back or accepts responsibility for anything and i havn't got another tank for him so i'll see if my mate wants him..if not i'll have to keep an eye.

Anytime I've seen 'electric blue convicts' being sold they were hondurian red points.. they look a lot a like though.

Lfs always our best friend and worst enemy. Well if it starts to show more promising color leading toward sajica they are found in the wild with short fined mollys and rainbow cichlids if you get a pair of each of the cichlids and a dozen mollys its a really cool biotope setup. Also with mollys always breeding you never have to feed live there will always be a supply of live food. Sajica are worth setting up a tank for they are really cool. I miss mine. Good luck.

Yeh i don't have a spare tank anymore so sticking with my GT's,Cons and Texas.

Final plan is to have just a large pair of GT's with a pair of Cons.

I never feed live anyway...i like animals to much so stay away from predatory fish.....i gove them bits of prawn, blood worm, flake, pellets etc so they well fed :D

I'm sure when the cons breed they will get lots of sneaky 'live food' anyway.

Umm cichlids are preditory fish for the most part (the ecception are the algea eaters like neets and a lot of africans, mbuna seem to be predominantly algea eaters). Preying upon anything from insects to crustations to smaller fish. But you are absolutly right in that they don't have to eat live. It sounds like a great variaty you feed. Too bad no second tank you got me all excited about sajica again. So thanks. Happy fish keeping.

Ahh well hes going home to the LFS now...not fair on him/her to be with my monsters long term....if the LFS don't like it...I'll put it in there tank myself.

I have cons in both those types. One ones with the darker middle bar were from lake lago, they also had some nice colour also.
