what is this fish

At what size or age do these fish turn red?

They don't always turn red, I think diet and enviroment is somewhat a factor there. Not sure at what age they would turn red given the right things to make them do so.

ive always heard they turn a uniform grey or brown but never red like that. perhaps those pics are of a different species? they also loose their high fin when larger.

turn red? lol its blood! look at the mat its laying on there is a blood on it too.

No, the one in the pic is the same species. Perhaps breeding colors or a different kind of diet than most.
