Cichlid2.jpgCichlid & Oscar 2.jpgI think we have figured out these are Paraneetroplus gibbiceps. I am posting new pictures as the colors have changed since introducing these into our tank. One of them is actually standing up to the Oscar now (see picture). The other one seems to has its jaw area change colors to a dark grey / black and then quickly back to normal. Do you agree that these are Paraneetroplus gibbiceps and what’s up with the color change in the jaw area on only one of these two.

NOT a Flowerhorn, I would say Hartwegi. And that is bad case of HITH on the oscar.

Hole in the head disease generally caused by poor water quality due to over stocking and lack of maintenance. You are severly overstocked. First thing is to test for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates with a liquid test kit such as API freshwater master test kit. Begin daily water changes to get Nitrates below 10 ppm and then they must be maintained there till he's fully healed which will take months. You need to rehome a lot of your othet fish as well

Wow! That Oscar is in rough shape. I noticed my Oscar started to develop HITH and did a bit of research to get rid of it. Remove all carbon from the system if you have any, change his diet to a pellet that has a good amout of vitamins(nls, hikari bio-gold) and increase water changes. That should help out some.
And definitely a flowerhorn....or not... ;)
