What is this goofy fish I just bought?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a ton of cons, my guess is a hybrid con, but I doubt it's a full convict. I own black cons, pink cons and marbled cons. The dorsal and anal fins were never that rounded on mine, even for the females...

I am now convinced this fish is not a con. It is the most passive non-aggressive con I have ever seen. It won't stand up to a juvie tiger barb.

I think I am gonna have to give him his own tank once quarantine is over.

need closer clearer pictures. Especially after he settles. Try to show us more than just black and stripes

funny how everyone jumps on the convict bandwagon....looks nothing like a convict, body shape color or really anything saying convict...

That is how disturbing the speciman at hand is.......It is definatly a cross, a hybrid.......Looks sick to me......Give an update within two months......Fat it up with varied diet......Dam, that fish looked like it coming from the 99cent throw out pile...........Feed it and medicate it, looks like it need some fin rot medication.......

Yes, he is raggedy! No fin rot, just nipped up. I am working on fattening up. He was bullied in the tank is was in so he was pretty chewed up!

There can be alot of variety in some species regarding look and color. My JD looked very blue on his head early on and developed nice colors, and he was thick where others I have seen don't quite look like that. Same general shape, but varying features.

I think it's a straight convict, but it almost looks like a con/peacock mix in it's shape.

I must have looked at that fish 20 times and I'll be damned if I could figure it out. I'd love to see some better pics oonce it's settled in. One thing keeps comming to mind a Sajica x Con, what the hell.

Got some more pics during a WC today.

The pics where he is the blackest were taken first when he was not stressed. The pics were is lighter is when he was stressed and the pics where his head is completely light were taken last when he was most stressed. I really had to harrass him to get these pics.

The pics where his is black are some good shots to count his rays. In addition these pics show his blue-green flecks.
