Definitely not a porthole. Their barbels are straighter if I remember correctly, and also, they aren't quite as rotund!

It's a Hoplosternum littorale. One of the bigger hoplos. It will get to 10" + but is very peaceful. Quite a hectic fish though :)
That's what I am thinking. I have three too.

That my friend is Callichthys callichthys, aka the armoured catfish.

Max size is around 8 inches. I have had mine for 5 years now and it is exactly 8 inches.
Very similar to the hopo's

Sorry, but this fish is NOT a Callichthys. It's a Hoplosternum, and looks like a female H. littorale but can be a smaller hoplo. The Callichthys has a larger head, smaller eyes, and a round tail. And they're "straight", don't have the "fattening" at mid-body like hoplos. That's a REAL Callichthys callichthys:

Look at the small eyes:

Here you can see the round tail and straight profile (filled stomach :D ):

Not much like the other pics of this topic, huh? :naughty:

Best regards.

Daniel.

As much as I like a good debate--I fear that after futher review I may be mistaken.
I went back to the ole' net and sure enough the tail fork supports the hopo ID.

What sucks is that for 5 years I have been calling my cat Cali !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
