What is this? I'm grossed out!

Yeah I did dissect him. I only ended up keeping the skull, the teeth are rad! I haven't got it down to just bone yet, currently the head is in a bag of salt, per my roommate's suggestion to cut down on smell and liquids. I will get the stomach at some point to remove the rest and get it down to just bone.

I did end up finding cupramine and a copper test kit, I will be treating with that this weekend, as a preventative.

Never seen a sabertooths's skull...that would be awesome to see though! & thats why I like sabertooths, they look so fierce and have rad teeth!

You should post pics of its skull when you can.

leave his head in a small box outside (not a good idea if you expect animals to come by) and over time maggots etc will eat all the flesh and leave bone

Thanks for the info but sheesh this thread is giving me chicken skin! Alien, Tremors and Dune rolled into one horror movie. This reminds me of the first time I found dragonfly larvae exoskeletons on the reeds of my outdoor pond - it freaked me out.
