What is this supposed to mean?????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I saw that too when I got mine.

Honestly, what doesn’t cause cancer nowadays? Haha.

I did notice warning labels on everything when I was in the U.S. I imagine you will be fine if you don't eat, drink or smoke it.
Haha. Thanks. I’ll try to control myself from those things. I don’t care much about cancer, they say we all have it already and some immune systems fight it better than others. (Not sure if I believe this is true btw).

I am more concerned about birth defects. If I have a kid that is deformed or disabled I’m ok with what I get, but I don’t want to be the cause of the issue if I have a choice.

So I used the contraption today. It might take some getting used to but I think it will make life a bit easier in some ways when I am doing wc. Already figured out a system where I let the water syphon out and attach a hose to it so it fills while emptying.

I think there are a million more things likely to cause a birth defect than the hose you use for water changes in the modern chemical filled world!

These aren't available here but I see a lot of the U.S members raving about them so will be interested to see how you find it once you get used to it.

Anyway, looking at the wording on the warning it dosen't mention anywhere the word human being. Maybe it's the fish that are in grave danger of developing cancer or giving birth to 3 headed offspring!! Keep us posted Matteus. You can be the fish keeping pioneer who's legacy it was too determine if hose pipes cause cancer in fish! :grinyes:

It may be harmful, but only in California. Any other state and you are fine.

If we're talking about the same thing I sometimes do a nearly 100% water change that way: Use a standard siphon hose connected to some added hose, allowing me to run it out a window. Drain the tank down to 20% or so water left. Let the siphon keep siphoning while the Python starts filling. Do that long enough to turn over virtually all the water in the tank itself, leaving only what remains in the substrate or filters. Essentially a 98-99% water change-- it's well water, so chlorine/chloramine isn't a factor.

Everyone's tap water and tank setup is different, but I see a difference between doing 50% water changes, 80% water changes, and these 99% water changes in terms of effect on how tank looks between water changes, water change frequency, etc.
