what about the fish anymore ideas of what she is?

also this "growth" only comes near egg laying time. i've bred her few times now. the swelling goes down considerably after egg laying. could a tumor be what is causing the excess swelling? or is she really filling that much with eggs? she seems healthy and active, spunky, and eats well. i dunno kinda starting to worry me. i've had her for about 8months now, and she is approximately 8inches.

If she is 8 inches at 8 months thats a preety good growth rate. If its your fish and the swelling goes away after she lays eggs than it might be possible that she may be making all those eggs. Although i am not 100 % sure

I don't think she should be getting that big just from eggs.
It may be somehow related to her carrying eggs, but I think that type of swelling is pretty abnormal.

Let her live, if it gets to big or it effects the quality of life maybe, but to just trash a fish due to that pot belly, I would not. As long as she is active and has an appetite Id let it go.

yeah let her live, who knows it could be a tumor but maybe some abnormality with producing eggs or something. i would only concider putting her down if she happens to seem like she is sufffering. pot belly is cute and i love her eyes.

don't seem to be suffering at all. in fact here is some update pics of her "cleaning" her pot for spawning soon. you can even see some of her babies with her still in some of the pics. they are hanging near the rocks to the left. those frys are maybe 2and half weeks old.
