What is this?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Turberculosis can often manifest itself as a whitish lump, often near the pectoral fins. It is not something treatable, and usually resolves itself. It is not usually fatal unless the fish in question becomes stressed.
Pretty much all the things that could cause this are things that are not treatable by a home aquarist, so I would just watch the spot, and keep an eye on things in general.
I'm sorry about the curt post before, all to often someone posts things on this forum, we try to help, and wind up finding out that the fin rot was caused by african ciclids being kept with angelfish. A tell tale sign is someone not posting tank parameters with their original question.

Well, Im sorry as well for my reponse, it was no bigy and I should have posted the peramiters in the first place. Just been frustrated about a few things lately and to now have fish problems.. should not have taken out on ya.... thanks for the input and for keeping up on the thread

I could be wrong.. but i think the Oscar is showing signs of Hole in head... The Jag i dunno because i do see a small white bloop but not enough to tell if thats any disease..

But going back to the Oscar... I've lost two Oscar this way.. it started with random wounds on the oscar where fins and scales had either a hole in them or skin/tissues were gone... Then another 4-5 months.. both oscar started getting holes from the area where the wounds/damage were.. Both oscar were I'm assuming Males.... the wounds were cause by fighting..

Luckily it didnt effect my Arowana that were in the same tank... but it was enough to see that both Oscar were doing very bad and no medications worked...

Just be on the look out for the Oscar.. that type of hole damage isn't normal...

HITH starts around those pinhole sensors on top of their heads, around their jaws. Also along their lateral lines. I suspect your fish had more than 1 thing going on but in this case it's not HITH.

This is why I love this MFK, the member suport is awesome. Thanks for all the input. Ill keep yall informed on how it goes

So, i thought i should throw an update out. Both the Oscar and Jag are doing realy well. The spot on the Oscars fin has completely healed and the jag still has the little lump but it has gone down drasticly. I'm hoping in a few weeks it will be gone completely as well.

Thanks for everyones input.
