A buddy of mine works on a fishing boat, and he accidently caught this fish.

Anyone know what it is?

wow that is cool would love to ahve something like that in a tank but feeding might be an issue

Hard to tell without seeing more of it, could be a Wolf fish.

Cool goosefish/monkfish (Lophius americanus)!!! He's holding a large species of angler and it's a female. The largest species grows to over 4 1/2 feet.

Looks like a Monkfish. Originally I was gonna say Grenadier but they are always found so deep underwater that their eyes and swim bladders inflate when brough up. Cool fish.
