grow it out in a jar instead of your tank, then i'd agree with your roommate just not in your tank haha

Can you get a couple more shots from farther back? Not sure I'm seeing what I think I'm seeing. At this point it looks to be anything from a bivalve to a larval insect. Does the pod part of it open? Do you see any legs, antennae or other appendages? How does it swim?
it doesn't really swim, it wiggles randomly as it floats along. it does have legs along the bottom and a darker mouth that looks almost like a little snail mouth. no antennas. it basically looks like a grub with a tail.
