I jsut picked up another ornate today. 15"+ i got a hell of a deal. but just like the last 12"+ one I bought he ended up on the floor before he got into the tank.

the last one jumped out of his bucket when I was aclimating him. And this out somehow got out of the styro box I brought him home in and into the pocket in the bottom of my trucks door. I have no idea how long he was there and I thought he was dead. But after I pushed him through the water like the other he started pumping his gills and now he's swimming fine and slowly aclimating.

So what's up with these guys. Any one else have a problem with them jumping like this.

All Polys are jumpers and escape artists. I've lost an ornate as well from jumping. Just make sure there's nowhere for them to get out and that whatever you have them in is covered. They can jump with a lot of force, too, so watch out.

mines pretty big he doesnt jump out but im sure its the putting him in a bucket and or sytrafoam box...i put mine right into the water.. the way i see it..its less stress for them esp that big...then putting them in a confined space ...thats what usually makes them freak out id say... deff at least next time id try a rubbermaid.. 18" in a bucket..seems kinda tight.

I had a air pump and botle of water on the lid when he jumped. b/c Ihad that problem with my other one. so I kinda was expecting it but I'm glad I cought it in time. He's going into the tank in a few minutes.

Good luck! Sounds like he's doing okay now.

Once I found my bigger Ornate

<-------

under my bed. She was dry like sand.
I did her back in her tank. And she started movin.
She is still fine. ;)

(attacked a Red Hook last night, that you still can see
the bitemarks....they're killers lol)

my ornate jumped behind the tank and i managed too save it with no rip fins or so
